Okay. I've got the internal 3.5 bay removed. I noticed there was a piece of purple plastic inside but that slid out. I'm hoping that doesn't need to be in there.

I have a Chenming case that can be seen here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811125486

This is a pic. The bay is the top left, the HD on the bottom and the purple plastic piece top right: http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/70/hdpictp5.jpg

Do i just slide it in there without the purple plastic piece? There are drive mounting brackets in the case and I can't figure out their function. It's too bad the case has no manual...

That purple plastic piece (say that 5x fast) is part of a fan mount for cooling the hard-drives.
Use the supplied screws to attach the hard-drive mounting brackets
to the hard-drive/s and slide them into the hard-drive housing then reinstall the housing into the case.
Building computers is not like building a model or something, your supposed to already know what your doing, that's why there is very little documentation included.

So... does that purple piece need to stay in there? I took it out because it slid out and seemed to interfere with the HD placement.

And I DO need the brackets? Oy. I guess I'll take out the HD.

Thanks for the info. I haven't put in the DVD drive yet. That'll be last, but it's good to know those brackets are for something.

I feel like such a newbie, but I guess that's what this is.
