The most common method is using two video cards, each with dual outputs. Keep in mind when SLI is enabled that only one monitor will work (usually, I have seen this glitch and more then one work).
Thanks. I'm currently setting up my system piece by piece. Does anyone have any suggestions for specific dual output video cards that are the most stable running together.
are you wanting to game with this or is it primarily for 2d applications? in the business world, Matrox makes some of the best multiple monitor cards that I've seen.
It's not for high speed gaming, it's a business computer. I checked out the matrox website and they have an adapter that connects to your video card and gives you 3 monitor outputs, that seemed like it might be the way to go. Has anyone here used it?
Never used the Matrox product, but it looked interesting.
I read about the TRIPLEHEAD2GO.
Only problem I saw with it is that it only uses VGA connectors and not DFI. Not an issue with me, as I only have VGA inputs on my monitors - but can be an issue if you plan on going LCD in the future.
Oh - and the other problem was if you have an ATI card. Nvidia works much better with the Matrox product. ATI will work somewhat, but at a much lower resolution. If you're seriously thinking of this product and own or plan to buy ATI, I'd search out some reviews/etc for this issue.
