does anyone know what the layout would be on a two 4 pin molex too 6pin pci-e ??

basically
if you had the 6 pin adapter in your hand, looking at the back of the connector, what colour cables would be on the top left, middle, right, bottom left, bottom middle, bottom right?????

i bought a bfg 7800 gtx oc and theres no 4 pin to 6 pin adapter.. its used.. ugh.. and so i went to he computer store bought the adapter, but the pins wont fit

on my cable ive got
square, square, circle
circle, circle, square

on the 7800 gtx

it is
square, circle (the rest are the same)

This is driivng me nuts.

do you know the layout of the standard pci 6 pin?
where do the 12 v lines go into the pci 6 pin from the 2, 4 pin peripheral?> Im going to make my own.

Splendid
I believe the bottom 3 pins are not used at all... cant rem the top config tho, think it used 2x 12v

Yes there is an adapter u can get buuut...
Chances are, if u need an adapter it means your psu didnt come with a 6pin. That also means your psu may not cope.

I had the same prob when i got my 1950XT. So i bit the bullet and managed to get a 650W for around 100US

For those of you interested in building your own 2, 4 pin molex to pci-e 6 pin
http://www.spodesabode.com/content/article/pciepower/2
took me an hour to find this website... but im glad I did.. saved me time.. also found some specs on a enermax that also said the bottom pins were used for 12v power.

I had mine built before I found it, but I wasn't sure where the 12V rails connected.

Anyway, for future reference, when looking at your cards 6 pin pci-e, the two bottom pins (on the far left, and on the far right) are for 12V in, while the rest are for ground.

also this has nothing to do with my PSU. This has to do with adapting 4 pins to 6 pins ;).

anyway Ill let you guys know if I blow up my video card.
