Sure there the left and right speakers for my logitech z2200 2.1's. The wired remote has gone hay-wire and I want to know if I can still use the speakers.
That adapter will allow you to plug the speakers into the sound card.
But if the speakers were originally plugging into the sub, which it looks like they do, they will not be amplified because the sub is providing the power to the speakers.
You can either get a new remote, buy a different amplifier and hook the speaker to it, or buy a new speaker set.

You're right of course. From my experience, the RCA plugs indicate that the speakers are powered/amplified, whereas non-powered speakers will use screw-down wires or banana connectors. However, the only way we can give a definitive answer is if he actually identifies the speakers rather than just giving a picture of the connectors.
just miss out the remote, get a phono to 3.5mm jack, and a female-female phono adaptor and plug it straight into the amp! Duh! you dont need to buy new speakers or anything!

Did you look at the picture he linked to? It shows the speakers sitting on top of the subwoofer. Each speaker plugs into the sub via the RCA cable, I have a set of 2.1 logitecs and they connect the same way, except the control is on one of the speakers instead of a remote, so that one has a different plug, but the other is the RCA. The amp that powers everything is in the sub.
In a word, no. You are also correct about the amp being in the sub in this case. However, there is a possibility that his soundcard could still power the speakers. Soundcards themselves have small amps on them - which is what enables you to use the cheap non-powered speakers. Plugging the logitech speakers directly into the sound card might still work then, although obviously they won't be able to play as loud as if he had the external amp.
He could plug them in with an adapter and get some sort of noise through them to be sure, but I would be willing to bet that some $10.00 headphones would sound worlds better.
