Hello, I have this setup for my home network:

cat5e - netgear fs116 switch
cat5e cable
10/100 NIC
Linksys NSLU2 NAS hosting usb (1gb) flash drive

I have been transfering 100 mb files from the flash drive onto my computer. It takes about 10-15 seconds to do this? How I test my lan to ensure that there is no problem with the bandwidth?

File transfers will be max at around 12 meg/sec on 100 full duplex. This is a TCP/IP thing. As for wan test there are several to test connection speeds. Speakeasy Speakeasy Speed Test is one of the best.

As for test between local machine you need to use 600+ meg files, to get away for caching.
