Just installed my new TT Big Typhoon. Before with the stock cooler and AS5 my idle temps were:

EasyTune 5 = 37 C
CoreTemp = 41 C

Load temps were:

EasyTune 5 = 62 C
CoreTemp = 68 C

Dual Prime95 running for only 5 - 10 minutes before I stopped because of the heat - who knows how it would have climbed.

Now, with cr@ppy stock HSF gone and the BT in place I'm idling in the mid 20s with EasyTune and low 30s in CoreTemp.

Under load I've stablilized at 42 C EasyTune and 48 C CoreTemp!!!

Dual Prime's been running for 30 minutes to an hour and it's not budging!

Can't wait for the AS5 to have time to set, hoping to drop a few more degrees - then it's time to see what my DS3/E6400 can really do.

Thanks to all who have provided advice along the way.

I tried re-seating it a couple of times, then read an article about problems that were coming up with the stock retention system. After I took the stock HSF off I checked and sure enough, even in the "locked" position the clips would slide out about 1/8" - I suspect that this was the problem, not enough downward force applied due to the faulty clips.
