power options

I'm running xp home sp2. For some reason in power options properties all the
settings are going to never. Is there a program that is causing this. Thanks
for all help in this matter.

1) Is this a new problem? Did it work properly earlier and if so, what
have you changed? What new software was installed, etc.?

2) Is this a desk or laptop? On my Toshiba laptop, for example, Toshiba
supplied their own software to tweak the power settings with -- you're
not supposed to use the XP controls for it. Conceivably if you have
some similar setup, then the software you're supposed to use might keep
over riding XP's setting.

My computer is a desktop. I went and looked and there is a program there
that is windvd creator, I just loaded that program. I don't know why it
would be there. Is there a way of getting it out of power options. Thanks
for the fast reply.

I don't use that software but the added power scheme is probably meant to
be used when burning a DVD. Have you checked windvd creator help or their
online tech support for more info about that item?

Do I understand properly that you don't recall having this power
management problem before installing WinDVD Creator?

I'm not familiar with the program. You might try uninstalling it and
see if your power management problem goes away. You can reinstall it
then if you need it, but at least you might get a better idea of whether
that's at the root of your problem or not.

Thanks guy's, the program takes vhs movie and makes them dvd. It takes
awhile to do and needs everything to stay on while in process. Thanks again.
