I really want to get an 8800GTX early next year but I dont want to have to upgrade to an expensive CPU! Is there a chance my 3700 (@ 2.4GHz) will be alright handling this beast?? I read somewhere that the CPU doesnt matter too much if you game on a very high res so that may be good cause im getting a 32'' HD TV soon, although it would prove a pain with having to move it in and out of the computer room so I dunno... Anyway so what do you think? Is my lowly single core CPU going to be able to handle an 8800GTX? I think I know the answer but I have to be sure! :(

Cool! Although I wish I didnt have to use my TV. Still though nice resolutions! :) I would OC my 3700 some more but for some reason it just wont do more than 2420MHz :(

Technically, all current CPUs, X6800 included, are bottlenecks somewhat.

A 3700+ is still a very serviceable CPU, and in games, it won't be a bottleneck, although something like an FX, or Core 2 might give couple of extra framerates.

lower your memory speed and hypertransport ratio if you want more overclock out of your processor.
Thanks for the tip. Yeah I was wondering why I was crashing at 2.5GHz when my temps were fine. I might give that a go.

Prozac, yeah I was originally thinking of getting an fx60 but I decided not to. And if its only a couple of framerates difference then all the better I didnt get one.
