Help With Mid-Range Gaming Computer

Hey, I am looking to spend about £500 ($980) On a new mid-range gaming rig.

I was thinking of something along the lines of this;

- AMD Single Core 3800+
- 150GB Sata II (I dont need much space as I already have a 250gb external)
- Radeon 1950XT
- 1gb DDR PC3200 RAM

A motherboard thats compatible and with at least 3 RAM slots if possible .

Anyone got any other thoughts or is it a good idea?

For $980US, you can do a lot more than what you have listed.

Gigabyte 965P-S3
150GB Sata II
Radeon 1950XT
1GB DDR2

Use the rest for a good PSU, and a case you like should you need one.

But for $980, get 2 gigs RAM, no question. You won't regret it, you'll wonder how you ever got by with 1 gig

Im not sure about a dual core though, are they worth the extra money??
