Windows explorer: pairs of web pages and folders

Archived from groups: microsoft.public.windowsxp.basics (More info?)

In Windows Explorer, both the webpage and its associated folder (containing
icons and the like necessary for the proper display of the page) are listed.
They are linked (e.g. deleting one deletes the other) but, to repeat, both
are displayed. Is there a way of preventing this, so that only the page
file, not its associated folder, shows?

The obvious solution would seem to be to go to Tools / Folder Options / View
/ Managing Pairs of Web pages and Folders / Show and manage the pair as a
single file. BUT this seems not to work.

I'd be very grateful for any suggestions.

Thanks

David

Just to clarify: what displays in Windows Explorer is both web pages that I
have saved AND, for each of those, an associated folder. What I want is for
the page without the folder to display, i.e. for the folder to remain
    invisible.

I am using Windows XP and the latest Internet Explorer.

    Thanks
