Allright. I have

AMD Athlon 3700+ stock
X800 XL
1GB PC3200 OCZ Gold Edition 2.5-3-3-7 RAM
MSI K8N Neo4 Motherboard

I don't want to do a complete new build yet... I'm sticking with 939.

I have two choices and need advice

1. Keep my CPU and get this (OC it)

$579.68

2. Grab a new CPU and a high end but not so good GPU.

Overclock the CPU and get a 8800GTS. In gaming that's a much better option.

The CPU isn't bad at all, and will work fine with a 8800GTS since games depend on the GPU instead.

Well I have heard from people that Company of Heroes (The game I want) depends a lot on the CPU, multiplayer and on skirmish of 4 or more players and a 3700 .. just won't cut it ... though I'm not 100% sure on this

8800gtx/gts imo.
Your 3700 will bottleneck it even being oc'ed but you'l be all set for Vista, dx10, a new motherboard and cpu in the future.

Option #3) Invest the money in a savings account until March 2007, while saving a little bit extra.

It will be worth it as the refresh cards specs will make the 8800 GTX look old-school within 3-4 months.

I was thinking about a mass upgrade/new build around xmass 2007. I just sold my laptop and have 470$ so I thought that a 8800 gts over a x800xl sounds good.
