My hp pavillion dv6000 laptop goes black after a short time

My HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop goes black after a short time. Can anyone out there help me find a solution? Thanks. Bette

After my computer is on for 15-20 minutes, the screen starts flickering and eventually goes black. I then turn it off for awhile and when I turn it on again, it works perfectlly fine for a short while and then the screen goes black and I cannot continue. I have since noticed when the screen starts flickering, the cord is extremely warm and eventually fades to black.

it boots up and runs about 10 min. then shuts off.

Hi. It sounds like it could be an overheating situation. I have had situations where someone was using one while laying on a bed. Not a good surface to place a laptop on when using it. You can get some canned air from Walmart and blow it out through the vents as they do tend to collect dust over time. There are also cooling pads you can place under them that are inexpensive as well as additional fans which are also inexpensive.
