I just got a new USB hard drive and would like to be able to be able to install windows onto it and boot from it.
A fiend of mine told me it was possible, and that there was a thread here about it, but I have been unable to find it. Could someone please point me in the right direction? Thank you.

Hard drive is: Seagate 320GB external hard drive

Does your motherboard support booting from USB devices? If not, you're SOL.

I can't find anything in my manual about it, but in my boot options in the setup it does let me pick the drive to boot from, but when i go to install windows it tells me that it doesn't have access so it can't install

Never tried this but this link should help:

A usb hard drive should act like a flash drive as far as windows is concerned...of course, you wouldn't need to shrink down the install in your case.

good luck..

The manual doesn't state whether you can boot from a USB drive. You need to check the Hard Drive boot priority in the BIOS.
