Ok, I have narrowed my case choices to 2. Both are from Antec. Right now I am aiming at the 900, but also like the P180b.
1) Antec 900, with 200mm top fan, and 4 slots for 4 more 120mm fans. 2 intake, 1 side, and 1 exhaust. At Newegg (also at CompUSA)
2) Antec P180B with lots of stuff, but only 3? fans. Here at Newegg Does this have a removable MOBO tray? Looks like it does.
I am looking for mainly cooling with the least possible noise. I like the 900 more because of the side panel window, and 200mm fan on top and 2 intakes. I have heard the p180b is has a thicker wall, so less noise. But it doesnt have the window. The window is not a requirement, but is preffered.
Let me know if you have had either one of these, and tell me what the pros and cons are for it. How has it affected your cooling, and how many fans and noise do you have.
P.S. If you can point me to a case with similar quality and cooling from anyone, Lian-Li, thermaltake, etc. let me know which one. The window is not a requirement, but preffered. NO more than a $140 please.
You seem to have all your options well looked into. The P180 would most likely be quieter, due to it having less mesh wall space. However, the huge amount of fans on the 900 would probably give you better cooling. At the top of your price range is this Lian-Li. These things are very solidly built, but of course it comes at a price.
Since you are gonna replace the fans and get a fan controller, I would go with whatever looks better to you. With the fan controller, you can have as much or as little noise as you want, so it really comes down to personal preference after that.
Ya, just hope that the noise will be ok. I might get 4 95cfm with 38dba for $6 each off eBay. Or 4 blue Rosewill fans off Newegg. I will get the Black Vantec fan controller for 4 channels with 18watts Max. off Newegg for $20. So my total renovation will total nearly $200.
Also, Antec has these "dampeners" for case fans, psu fans, and a couple others. Are they worth the price, or cause a loss in air circulation? They look interesting.
