I want to get the creative xmod for my dad for a holiday season/ birthday present.

I see that it has to have a power source (AC). It can output either from 3.5mm headphone jack or USB. My dad has the 60gb ipod photo which he uses with a cassette adapter.

I want to know if its possible to use the Creative XMOD external sound card in a car (Toyota Camry 199x something)

I don't think it will work without a PC mate, as you need to install the drivers to get it to work.

So, unless you've got a pc installed in the car it wont work

Why not just get the iPod FM adapter and have him tune his radio to 88.5. Then he has no unsightly wires hanging arround and can have his iPod sitting pretty much anywhere in the front of the car. Shirt pocket, back pocket (not recomended), where ever.
