my current specs are as followed:
amd soc A 2400+ oc to 2.1ghz, 2 gigs of ddr1 pc3200, 160 gigs of hd and a POS 512 7600 gs agp card(going to burn it then try to return it..). my questions are
1. should i upgrade to s939(if i do wich one should i get?)
2.build a new C2D system(i WOULD like to keep my ram because it is 2 gigs but can i even do much with DDR1 pc3200, or just buy dd2).
the video card isnt a problem to me because anything is better than this pos 7600gs.
how good of a OC can i do with C2D and my ddr1 ram????
pleaseeee help!! cant decide!

go with c2d, then you are set up for future upgrades.

There are not many boards that support both the socket 775 cpus and DDR1 ram. ASRock makes a couple but I don't think that even those will support C2D. They also aren't good overclockers as enthusiasts don't normally choose ASRock.

If you go C2D you will have to get DDR2 ram I think. Also, S939 is being phased out and will not be supported in the next couple of months. Also, you'll have to get all new hardware then; cpu, motherboard, ram and video card.

Keep your current computer together and maybe turn it into a server or HTPC.

oh you can OC to 2.8 and more my friend. you can overclock beyond your wildest dreams if you want to! If you went C2D you could even say you were in the valley of overclocking and coolaler was your butler bringing you muay thai's as you laugh at superPI 32M while playing FSX and running Folding@home. In fact you could even use your old CPU as a coaster! what a world that would be!!
