Well, I salvaged the parts from my old P2 350 mhz computer to make a little guineapig machine. First I installed Windows 98 SE, and after getting everything running on it, I decided to install Windows XP on it just for the hell of it. Anyway, when it gets to the point where it copies the installation files to my hard disk and reboots into a DOS-based installer, it loads into the Windows-like installation interface and after several moments of loading, it tells me that Drive C: is corrupted and cannot be repaired, and exits the installer and goes back into Win98. WTF? I even ran a full scandisk on the hard disk and everything is fine. Practically nothing but Windows is even installed on this thing...

Any ideas? Thanks...

WinXP is only supposed to function as an upgrade to NT4 or Win2k. Repartition/format, and load the OS as a fresh installation, or a dual-boot.

I know that some people have been able to get the beta to upgrade Win98 ... but it tends to cause problems.
