Is the GeForce 6600LE PCI-E 512MB a better card than a Radeon 9550 256MB? or are they fairly similar? I ask this because I'm using the 9550 for my games but I find it is stopping and crashing every now again. :?:

Its better than the 9550 by ~50%. Are you upgrading everything and switching over to a PCI-E mobo? You could probably do better on PCI-e maybe a x800gto? Its not much more.

It's best to stay away from anything that has either "SE" (sucky edition), or "LE" (lame edition). How much are you looking to spend? Anymore than 256mb RAM on a low-end to mid-range card is overkill, so cross those off your list, because they're not worth the extra money.

Yeah the 6600LE is a 4-pipeline edition of the 6600 thats clocked slightly higher than the standard 6600 (8-pipeline). It performs between the 6200 and 6600. You might be better off with a 6200 if you don't have the money. Either the 6200 or 6600le may be able to unlock the pipelines but its no guarantee.

That might be overestimating the 6600LE... I'd reckon it'd be closer to the 9550 than that.

Regardless, there are much better buys out there. Hell, if you picked up an old 9700 PRO on ebay for $25 it'd absolutely destroy both a 6600 LE or 9550.
