Hello there,

Not sure whether or not this is the proper section for cable-mumble-jumble questions but here goes. I'm trying to transfer some data from my desktop to my notebook and vice-verse via a USB-link cable. Some seemingly brilliant bloke told me it'd work fine but so far I've had no success. I've installed the software that came with the cable on both computers but they refuse to "see" each other. Any suggestions?

PS I'm an utter newbie so to anyone kind enough to reply, please use down-to-earth explanations otherwise my few remaining brain cells'll go haywire =)

First off, make sure you have file and printer sharing enabled on both machines.

If both machines have a NIC card, why not just use a crossover cable? Its probably easier.

You also have to be sure the two computers are in the same workgroup.
