i have an Asus P5B Deluxe Wifi edition motherboard and it seems to have a quality sound device onboard, but i'd like to know if i would get better sound options with a sound blaster. would this onboard sound be good for games or should i buy a sound blaster?

from the way you ask your question, i am certain you wouldn't be able to tell the difference, sound cards only really shine with high quality speakers, and for gaming it wouldn't make the game play any better, (surround sound might tho, but you don't need an ad in card to support that usually)

I believe the P5B Deluxe comes with AC97 HD audio which supports EAX 2.0.
Correct me if I am wrong, but EAX 2.0 is good enough for games.
