I'm looking into getting a new sound card (i found out i can't get surround sound from my xbox360 to my speakers with the one i have) and since im an avid gamer thought this was a great time to jump on the x-fi bandwagon. when i started looking, though, i saw they released two new cards, the xtreme audio and xtremegamer, as well as a new edition of the fatal1ty. i was wondering, are the xtremegamers and xtreme audio's worthwhile, or should i just stick with the xtreme music card i was planning on getting? are the xtremegamer and xtreme audio just dumbed down versions of the xtreme music? thanks for any assitance.

To be honest I have no idea what the differences are with the gamer and audio cards is but... I would just go with the Music. It's what I have and it's perfect.

I believe that anything with the word "gaming" attached to it in PC parts are a marketing scheme. And yea XtremeMusic one is the best. :D

Go for the XtremeMusic, its not much more in terms of cost and it guarantees performance and compatibilities.

no offense, but i think you guys are all wrong. i myself have the xtrememusic, but i bought it because at the time it was the cheapest x-fi card.

you should get the cheapest one because they are all based off the x-fi chip, so other than the x-ram (only found on the really expensive x-fi's, and it doesnt do very much, maybe 1 or 2 fps) there are no differences.

if you want, the audigy2 zs is almost the same as the x-fi and should be a bit cheaper.

The xtremeaudio card is not an x-fi DSP it is similar to the c-audio DSP, while the xtremegamer and all other cards use the x-fi DSP...i would recommend the xtrememusic, with vista coming you will not be able to take advantage of the x-ram anyway....

I second that; the X-Fi label has become more of a brand than anything else. The Extreme Music is the best way to make sure you've got the real McCoy.
