My instruction sheet says to just use water, but I think my tap water has minerals in it because i can see this strange milk like film on my screen every now and then ..

What would you guys suggest i use bottled water, or do they sell a special cloth ...?

Also for my old CRT I just used alcohol to clean it with no problems, but the instructions for the LCD screen insist that I do not.

There are specific products on the market for that application. These days, even your local hardware store should have some sprays specifically for LCD's, based on non alcohol solutions.

My LCD instructions say that a 50 / 50 alcohol mix is OK, and its all I've used. No issues so far, just make sure you use a soft cloth that leaves very little lint.

(old diapers (nappies, this side of the world) are great.)
