why are there so many sony fanboys

Im not talking about just games consoles here, but all general consumer electronics, all my friends keep boasting that they have sony tvs, cameras, camcorders, mobile phones, speakers, laptops, mp3 players. Are all there products that much better than any other manufacturers like panasonic, sharp, toshiba, lg, samsung, ect. They should be better since they are more expensive.

Do they do advertising in movies to help sony towards its goal in being perceived as more premium and better than all other manufacturers. for example in casino royale alot of the gadgets he has are made by sony like the laptop and the mobile phone, and in vantage point a sony camcorder is shown alot.

I have to be honest and say that i do like the way some Sony products look and feel nice and premium, e.g. there mp3 players, but i wonder why other manufacturers struggle to make there product feel premium all they have to do is put sum brushed metal on them.

Another thing id like to talk about is the bravia engine TVs , its not that special, i can do post processing, colour correction and filtering with ffdshow on my pc. Cant a tv manufacturer just incorporate ffdshow in a tv firmware

Sorry to say but Sony has them hip-mo-tized. i have it that way with the in-laws. They would rather get a Sony Bose imitation surround sound system (Looks just like an anorexic on a diet!) than something that can actually PLAY music and movies without distortion, blaring, tinniness or other shortcomings.....FOR LESS MONEY!

Oh, I forgot, it does not LOOK cool.
