Im sure this has been posted and contested here somewhere b4 but here goes. Im starting to think that my x2 4800 @ 2.6 might not be beefy enough for the next gen cards like a 8800gtx or whatever ati offers soon. Im loosing sleep over this "cpu bottleneck crap"

look at my sig and see if im ok for another year...its a 939 platform and i dont think i can get much better

Help me..... :? also i only like to use the mobos 10% overclock feature.. I cant understand all the ram timings and multipliers so i use a standard auto overclock to 10% so my 4800 is at 2.64.. Best i can go is fx60 right? Would an opteron do me any better?

FX60 is clocked at 2.6 also, so you will jsut be wasting your money. if anything I would say hold off until the 65nm chips come out. Then more than likely a 2.3GHz chip will clock to close to 3GHz.

of course that requires a new mobo and RAM so you don't have a lot fo options depending upon your budget.
