Hey,

Some of you may remember me saying i was getting ready to purchase the 8800GTX well its done and installed!

I now have one problem, the only problem thus far. All my games that i have tried so far have worked perfectly with the expected framerates and such but one game. Halo. Some of the models are screwed up. It seems as if only half the model will load on each item in the game. Im not sure if its texture glitch or just model glitches. Since this is the only game its doing it on would it be possible that its just temporary and it may be fixed in the next nvidia driver version? If not, are there any suggestion anyone may have that may help?

Thanks,
Grunge

*EDIT* P.S. here is the image of the glitch

I've heard various reports as well of the card being rather finicky in terms of games. However, thats one unique glitch... i like it personally. Send the card my way and i'll take a look at it. :D

I had a few issues as well. The main reason why is immature drivers. This is very typical with new video cards and old games. Empire at War sometimes flakes out on me... but i've noticed the latest version of ForceWare drivers are a lot better.

I had almost identical artifacts w/ my old 7800 GTX and KotOR II... after a few months they fixed it in the new drivers.

Give it time padawan.

I agree that it very well may be a driver issue as this is the only game that has this problem. You stated that you were going to uninstall the game the reinstall it, which is a good idea. Keep us posted.

I had the same kind of artifacts in Splinter Cell Double Agent Demo. I was using the latest drivers. Then last night i tried out Rainbow Six Vegas and it was running pretty slow. Today i installed an older version of the driver 96.89 and Rainbow Six runs noticable faster and much smoother. Also i had an issue with my LCD monitor flickering and stuff mysteriously shuts Down then comes back on, and all that seems to be gone with those drivers. There is nothing to loose by giving a try to those drivers. If it does not work you can always just install the latest ones back on to your system. I have Halo installed onto my system as well but i have not seen any of those issues that you are having. Not yet anyways.

Ps here is a link for the driver i am currently using:96.89 NVIDIA Driver

The new 97.44 drivers fix that LCD flickering problem. I had the same issue with 97.02... no issues with 97.44.
:) Well i just downgraded from 97.44 to 96.89 and now my flickering problem is gone. I was using 97.44.

Also i am getting much better frame rates in Rainbow Six Vegas.

I liked the 96.89 drivers considering the 97.02 were poo. I've been using the 97.44 since they came out. The 97.44 seem to iron out a few more problems. I'm definetly not getting anything like the OP is seeing. I did get crap like that when I tried the 97.02 driver. It's a process.

Well i am considering to reinstall windows because maybe I have a driver conflict and thats why the 97.44 drivers crapping out on me. Currently i am running on 96.89 without any problems like i said.

mpjesse are those scores in your sig real? I am getting around 8000-9000 in 3Dmark06 with the 8800GTX and you are getting that with the 7800GTX which is the card i just upgraded from. I am not sure if something is wrong in my system. I have an X2 4600 AMD CPU and 2Gig of DDR400 ram dual channel. Nothing is overclocked.

I vote for a driver issue as well. I'm running dual 8800gtxs and was getting this EXACT issue after I went to 97.44 in certain games (Dark Messiah, Silent Hunter). I reverted to 96.89, then reinstalled 97.44 and it went away.

You just read my mind. I was just thinking about that same thing. I will reinstall the newest drivers and see if i will have any issues, but like you said i probably won't. :D

SWEET !!

Both 97.28 and 97.44 have an issue with 2 of the 3 mem clock generators (one for each 256mb domain) not reaching target speed (900mhz stock for gtx) and instead leaving them at 396mhz. So games that use large textures and tend to use a lot of vram are going to have distortions/corruptions like shown in the image.
96.89 has issues with some opengl games (wolf et), but if you don't have issues in any games you play in you might as well stick with those.
I'm stuck with 97.02's as they're the most stable (yet crappy perf wise) of what's out right now. :(

Well from what I am reading, it seems as if no matter what driver version i use there is going to be bugs. in my opinion, I might as well keep my current driver version until the next version comes out. I am only having problems with one game afterall, so I suppose its not too bad.

Thanks for the help!

Re-examine my scores. I think you were looking at 3DMark05 scores. Anyways, my 3DMark06 score is around 8600. You're in the ballpark. :)

considering the unstability of drivers of 8800GTX , i am guessing that the issues that i have ith COH are mainly due to drivers ?????

if not what else it can be
and one more thing i am hitting 9812 on E6600 2 GB corsair dominator PC6400C4D and P5B deluxe, are they okay ?

The million dollar question is what speeds are running at?

If you're running everything stock I'd say your score is right on. Now, with a bit of tweaking on that system you should be 11,000+ ballpark.

Edited: I forgot to ask what problems are you having with CoH? I will see if I can reproduce the same on my current drivers. It seemed to be running fine when we had some LAN action at my pad last weekend.

yes its all stock
and the bit of problem i am facing is that in COH it sometimes gives a glitch of some sort, the shadopws gets huge or the textures strectches.

one more thing
which drivers are you using ? and i am prety curious about heating issues it gets above 76 when loaded :!: now thats concerning is it ????

P.S i have ASUS 8800GTX and have smartdoctor exnabled \, when playing BATTLEFIELD 2142 it wount run the fan at its fastest pace, what should i do ?
