QuickTime error getting file security

I've seen a lot of complaints about this problem but no solutions.

I am getting this message:

error getting file security
c:\ProgramData\AppleComputer\Installer Cache\QuickTime 7.65.75.0
GetLastError: 5

when I try to upgrade from iTunes 10.0.0.68 to 10.3.1. This includes an
upgrade of QuickTime.

Any ideas on how to really fix this so that I can upgrade
iTunes?

Try deleting all the files in c:\ProgramData\AppleComputer\Installer Cache\

Hi Phil. I deleted all of the files in the folder you mentioned (c:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\Installer Cache\) but am still getting:

Error getting file security:
C:\ProgramData\Apple\Installer Cache\Apple Software
Update 2.1.2.120\ GetLastError:5

Notice that the path is different than the one you mentioned and that I deleted the files out of.
C:\Progra.mData\Apple\Installer Cache\Apple Software contains a lot more files. Do you think it would
be okay to delete all the files in this folder and try the install again?
