I'm putting together a new computer based on a E6400 due 2 core .

I use one computer for everthing. I do AutoCad work, use it for general business, surf the web, watch tv and once in a while even play a game on it.

I was all set to go with an ATI 1900 or nvida 7000 series card. Then I was told to look at :

PNY VCQFX560-PCIE-PB-V Quadro FX560 128MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card

The PNY card seems very different from the other two cards. Why? What makes different?

For an all around card do I go with my original cards or this one?

Thanks ... Mike

Quadro's are workstation-class cards, there the user is not greatly concerned with high frame rates (such as shooter type games) but needs high precision. How much AutoCAD do you do, how big is your screen, and at what resolution? This application is very different from games so the percentage of time you spend in each will make a difference in the card you choose.

The PNY will work for you just fine if you mostly focus on AutoCAD. But if that is 30% or less of your computing hours you should probably look at other cards.

Cadd work is only about 25% of my computer useage.

Games are only about 10% of the useage.

I am buying a new monitor, most likely 20" LED with 1600 x 1200 resolution.

Thanks for the information!!!

Mike
