alrigt im building myself a brand new an2 system to use for counter strike, everquest, vanguad, and everyday use... my budget is $1000 and i dont need a monitor case and power supply o and i do not know how and probely will not try to OC at all so i dont need parts with good OCing abilites[/u]

so far im going with

Asus M2N-SLI DELUXE
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+
Corsair XMS2 2gb ddr2 800 (pc 6400)
WD caviar SE16 250gb 7200rpm sata 2.0GB/s
LITE-on 16x dvd+R Burner with Lightscribe and 5x dvd-ram write
XFX Geforce 7900GS 256MB XT edition
Total-$933

iv been told to get the 4200+ and a better graphics card but im waiting intill some mid range dx10 cards come out then im going into SLI most likely so i just need a card to get the job done for now

my real big concerns are the hard drive and diskdrive... arethat there any drives out there that would be much smarter to get or anything along thoes lines...

my power supply is an
APEVIA ATX Dual 12v sli complint 500w

the case is an

i would try a seagate perpendicular recording hdd

m not a big fan of lightscribe, just one more thing to go wrong.

if you are going sli, get a 590 sli chipset motherboard:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813188008

i would keep the cpu, since it is only 204 dollars right now. plus, but getting a 4200, ur ram will downclock itself to 742 and not run at 800 like it will with the 4600.

the 7900gs, u could save like 40 bucks and go to a 7600gt, thats up to you though.

I don't recommend anything AMD right now, unless you're an AMD fanboi.

Check my sig. Everything except the 80GB HDD (from my old rig) was less than $730 shipped. Add $30-40 for a burner and you're all set. Mine even included a new PSU (around $40 thru mwave, was $60 on newegg.)

Agree with bobfan on the HDD. That's the exact one I have.

No offense, but I'd take my $730 rig over your $930 rig any day. Since you're not OCing, might want to step up to the 6400 to match + the 4600. Still will be cheaper by almost $200 than your proposed set up.

Buying everything from one site can save you on shipping charges, but doesn't mean it's the cheapest way. Shop around a bit.

Agreed.

Spend the money you save on a DX10 card instead. Or get a 7600GT that will do just fine, and get a midrange DX10 card in the spring.

Either way, Thunder is right. You can get a better system for cheaper going that route.
