MODEM RECOMMENDATIONS

What modem is the best for downloading large files?
I have a 2wire modem and sbc yahoo dsl service.

File size is pretty much meaningless to a modem. It just provides the connection it doesn't really care what comes over it

That 2wire should do just fine. If it is giving you problems I'd have sbc replace it. Do a factory reset on it first though just to see if that clears up any bugs. There should be an option for that in its web config.
If you have your heart set on a new modem just go for a speedstream 5100. Those are pretty nice as far as DSL modems go.
