hi everyone,

i want to upgrade my graphics card for games, but after reading about my CPU bottlenecking the best graphics cards speeds, am i right in understanding it as a waste of money to spend $500 on the best card for the money? ( like a 8800gts for example )

what would be the best card for me to buy to get MAX results for my computer.

im running a pentium 4 3ghz, with 2gb or ram

help from anyone experienced enough to help me is sooo very appriciated

to get the max results out of your current computer by only upgrading the gfx card its obvious: a 8800gtx. although, it would be much better to get a C2D and an 8800gts instead, or even something like the 1950xt.

so heres what i would do, get a something like an E6300, a good mobo, different ram (unless those sticks you have now are ddr2.) and something like a 1950pro or a 1950xt.

yea sorry, i forgot to say, i have ddr 2 ram right now. the reason i dont wanna get a cell processor is 1 the money, and 2 changing motherboards is more work.

so the best i could get out of a p4 3ghz and 2gig ddr2 would be a 8800 gtx?

any idea how fast that would be for todays newer games?

where did the cell processor come from?

anyway, its a waste of money to get the 8800gtx if your using a P4, you would probably get better gaming performance if you got an 8800gts instead, then spent the $300 saved on a new mobo and cpu.
