You've seen the creepy tech demo. You want bragging rights again. You need the best computing possible. Then buy the 8800GTS. But just not right now. You're probably thinking "why not?". Well, do you like geting ripped off? If you rushed out and bought the GTS the week it came out, you probably paid around 475.00 USD. Since then, this chip has slid down from that to 399.99, in a bundle that gives you a X-gear gaming headset with it free. Even the GTX has gone from 660 to 560! Not to mention, The E6300 has been dropping in price, along with allmost all of AMDs prices.
So if you want the best DX10 action....just wait...they're aren't any DX10 exclusive games out yet anyway...or drivers...or vista...or anything other than better FPS and high settings.

??

Will it go down in price? Maybe a little.

I wouldn't expect it, R600 and 8900s will be coming out in the new year, so there won't be a reason for 8800s to drop lower.

300 or lower, of course. In time, it'll be "cheap". If it takes two years, so what? It'll be 300$ or lower for sure. :P

I haven't heard anything about 8900GTs yet, and wouldn't the R600 mean competitive pricing, so it would go lower? Or is ATI so big and bad that the G80 will get depressed and give up. No it will keep going lower.

Reply to mathew952

Was R600 not whispered to be massively expensive? In which case nV can leave G80 prices well alone.

You sound like you'd make a great SciFi writer! :)

Thanks, My first book: the INQ is actually right, and Nvidian chippery and marchitecure rule the world!

Does that mean my EGVA 8800GTS is still going to be worth 450$ when i trade it in for an 8900GTX?

Reply to Xazax310

Yeah but a 8900GTX is not coming in 3 months time, which last time i checked was the limit on the step-up program

Reply to IcY18

damn i guess have to go EVGA 8800GTX in 3 months then wait for the refresh

Reply to Xazax310

350 before it's completly outdated by newer and better cards (8600gt, 8900gs,... 8)

Reply to Real999

I'm gonna say 350, but not keeping my hopes up. My reason being that the 7800 barely dropped in price when the 7900 came out. It may drop more in response to R600 but again probably not much if the ATI prices are high. We'll see what happens.
