SB Live! 5.1 Series

I have a SB Live! 5.1 Series. I have some choppiness in games such as HL2, NWN, and AOE3, and in general, the sound I'm getting is just okay from other titles or iTunes.

Any worth in getting an X-FI? I'm probably going to get a new beast (computer), sometime later next year, if I were to get X-FI now, would I be out of luck next year (i.e., would it be difficult to transition)?

X-fi is nice..works well..you can get an x-fi music cheap..I just got the barracuda from razer yesterday and I have an x-fi music..I will have a review of the barracuda later..so far so good though..but its $200..
