Need Final Advice Before Ordering

My Current system is-

athlon 64 3000 (skt754)
2gb ddr400
msi 6600gt agp
160gb sata hard drive
500w antec smart power
coolmaster centurion 5 case

i was thinking of upgrading to-

C2D 6300
MOBO ? - wont be overclocking
Memory ? - not sure what speed is best if im not overclocking
graphics card - x1950 pro
i will keep the case, power supply harddrive etc

all i need advice on is which memory and motherboard is best (looking to spend no more than £450 total if possible :?

I'll use Newegg as a reference here....

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3

RAM: If you're not Overclocking, go for DDR2-533, to keep a 1:1 FSB:RAM frequency ratio. This OCZ Gold 2GB set should be good. If you only want 1GB to start, then look for this set

You can reuse your current memory, drop in your new vid card and CPU. No need to spend a fortune on DDR2 RAM. No overclocking like you said though, but it's a helluva upgrade on the cheap.

What power supply will you be keeping? And how old is it?
You want to make sure it will work with the new motherboard and more powerful video card.

This is a terrible idea. From the other components the OP said he/she would be getting, this looks like it's going to be a gaming system. The PCI-E x16 slot only has 4 PCI-E lanes, so the OP's video card would not perform to its full potential.
