Hey, I'm about to purchase my new computer and was wondering if you guys could help me out with my PSU choice. I decided to go with the SeaSonic S12-600 600W PSU found here:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817151025

Do you think this PSU will work fine for a 8800GTS? I haven't heard much about how power-hungry they are so I was hoping someone could help me out. I'm not big on PSU's and don't really know much about 'em. The rest of my computer specs are:

E6600 Core 2 Duo
2x1GB Corsair XMS DDR2-800 RAM
2x250GB WD 16MB Cache HDD
ASUS P5B-E Mobo

Good choice. StrangeStranger's rig will eat more power than yours and is running just fine. Xtremesystem's "Perkam" forum and overclocking veteran ranks the S12 in the top tier of PSU's in terms of quality and stability.

Thanks everyone. I was just a bit weary on picking the PSU because I don't really have sufficient knowledge on PSUs... So thanks for the thumbs up :D

I paid around $160 each for both of mine and you're getting yours for $144 with free shipping so that's pretty cool.

Your system will support overclocking and you can probably take that 2.4GHz E6600 up to 3.0GHz which will be much faster than an EX6800 Extreme and have it rock solid stable. Use 1:1 CPU/RAM and set your CPU and RAM to 533 (not 800) and set your FSB to around 333 and and bump your CPU voltage up just a tad (less than a smidge), reboot, and hold on.

Its good to see folks going with the high quality power supplies. We see so many rubes around here trying to get away with spending $69 on some budget UPS that just isn't going to cut it.

You see their posts later... "Hey my system reboots and just locks up for no reason. What am I doing wrong?" Answer: You didn't pay attention to all the folks who told you the power supply is one of the most important pieces of your system, Chuckie.

Grip it and rip it.
