My plan is to get a crap laptop HD and then install this PCMCIA

This external enclosure

And just use my Raptor 150GB to boot XP and I can get high end non-raid single user desktop performance on a freaggin laptop!!!

I absolutely dont mind carrying around with it cause im going to get a backpack and get an adapter to connect everything, so I only connect one cable.

I would like to hear comments from everyone here. What would be the draw backs if any? Im pretty sure that all of the stuff mentioned will work right, so let me know if im wrong.

Mainly, can I boot from eSata?

The only draw back I can think of right now is that I cant use it on the road. But i could always just have my normal laptop HD with Windows and try and have a syncro app to keep them uptodate or just get a car adapter, but this wont be such a big issue as I will usually have a power outlet available, judging by the places i plan on taking my laptop.

Can someone please tell me if this is going to work, is there a way I can boot an OS through eSata?

If it wont, is there a way that I can then boot normally and then force a boot with the Raptor, or would a Virtual Machine run just as smooth for graphic design work. Because if a Virtual Machine would work, I optimize my slow HD OS so it consumes the least amount of RAM possible, probably with Widows XP Home.
