Here is the article I've written while doing the modding http://www.ultracrepidate.com/?p=835 with all the details, files and articles. Just thought that it'd be useful for some of you.

Just wondering for those of you who did the same, if this performs as well as the ATI RADEON X850 XT Platinum Edition.

ok... ati's naming conventions are really starting to confuse me...

Is this x850 xt platinum edition better than the x1k series? How on earth do you judge speed on these things by their names anymore? heh

x850 was the previous generations high end. Generally the larger the number, the faster the card.

The link to the card say it cost $222.30 CAD. Where could you buy it for 87$. in Europe x850XT Platinum is 50% expensive than GTO ( = 80euros more). While it is good value but not as astonishing as your title. Or I got confused anywhere.

With the gto its hit and miss whether or not it will unlock. Sapphire shipped a gto2 which would.

What you really want is an x850pro vivo (must have the yellow audio connector), this is what the gto2 was/is and they will unlock.
