Anyone know the bit-age for the x2600 and/or 8600? I am guessing since the 8800gtx is 384 bits and 8800gts is 320 bits that x2600 and/or 8600 will be, of the xt of x2600 and of gt or gtx of 8600, 192 bits and , of pro of x2600 and of gs or gts of 8600, 160 bits. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks in advance...
Why would they make the memory interface such a random number??! and again I don't think you're going to find that out for quite a while but i would be appalled if the memory interface was below 256-bit
Heh heh. Your talking about the 8600 as being like the 7600GS is to the 7800GS (in relative)? The x2600 as a x1600? Assuming.
With Vista and DX10's demand on video, it's unviable for them to distribute the "8600" (nothing concrete, all we can do is speculate) with 128 or even a 160bit mem. bus. I bet, but for the sake of my pride; dont quote me (!), we will long to see the 7300GS's 64bit memory from here and out. I betcha' 256 will be the bottom out point. DX10 and Vista will keep nV and ATI on a fast track.
I am pretty sure a 128-bit bus is viable for Vista... just don't expect much out of it. As bas as Vista is touted to be in terms of resource usage, I bet a 7600GS could run Aero without getting pissed off too badly. Can't Vista run on IGP's? Just a thought.
