Wireless Webcam modem?

My priority is that I am keen to ensure that the webcam can be operated from
the maximum optimized distance. A requirement is an 802.11b wireless router
and I have been advised to acquire an ADSL Modem router so that the
connection is permanent and having checked out the available products I am
confused by the reviews. Many well-known products seem to fail in this area
and I would appreciate any feedback or advice from anyone who has experience
in this field.
