Which Card Should I Get? Tags: Graphics Cards GPUs Memory Core ATI Graphics Last response: December 20, 2006 2:03 AM in Graphics & Displays Share Roger123 December 19, 2006 11:41:00 PM I'm trying to find a new graphics card for my new PC but I'm a little unsure which I should get. I'd perfere a Nvidia card because of problems I've had in the past with ATI drivers and an old DX8 game I play but I'm happy to go with ATI if I end up with a better card. These are some I've found... BFG 7900 GS OC 256MB GDDR3 - £138 Core (GPU): 525mhz Memory Clock: 1320MHz OcUK Galaxy GeForce 7900 GS OC SILENT 512MB GDDR3 - £158 Core (GPU): 540mhz Memory Clock: 1500MHz Connect 3D X1950XT 256MB GDDR3 - £162 Core (GPU): 625 MHz Memory Clock: 1800Mhz Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB GDDR3 - £172 Core (GPU): 580MHz Memory Clock: 1400Mhz Is the main factor (other than price) the GPU speed/memory speed or can say a Nvidia card with lower speeds perform better than an ATI card? Would the last one with 512MB memory be better than the Connect 3D one with faster GPU/memory speeds? It could be because the game was released too early, the ATI drivers weren't optimized for it, the card didn't support something, bleh bleh  . This all depends on how thick you wallet is. If you got it, go with the 1950 Pro. If you want to save the dough, get the BFG 7900GS as they overclock extremely well. | Report abuse prozac26 December 20, 2006 12:28:16 AM X1950XT is best from that list. | Report abuse Crapola December 20, 2006 12:34:24 AM X1950XT is the best performer and it's cheaper than the 1950 PRO.... makes no sense.... 8O | Report abuse Related ressources Which card should be in Primary position when using a SLI connector - Forum Which card should i get? - Forum Which card should I get ? - Forum Which card should I get for around 225 bones? - Forum Which Graphic Card should I go for? - Forum Ask the community Publish Xazax310 December 20, 2006 1:10:00 AM X1950XT for the win. 48 shader pipelines! | Report abuse SEALBoy December 20, 2006 1:56:19 AM X1950XT definitely... There are only three cards out there that are faster: the X1950XTX, and the 8800 cards. And at that price, with it being cheaper than the X1950Pro, definitely. | Report abuse Roger123 December 20, 2006 2:02:15 AM Looks like I'll be getting the X1950XT then. Do they normally come with a "DVI-I to VGA Converter dongle" or should I buy one? | Report abuse djplanet December 20, 2006 2:03:46 AM Comes with it, I believe. | Report abuse Register or log in to remove Ask the community Publish Tom's Hardware>Forum>Graphics & Displays>Which Card Should I Get?> Related ressources: ForumWhich graphic card should I buy ?
