If this question has already been asked, i apolagise..

Would i damage my CPU (long term or short term) if i OC'd it to 333 FSB with a 8x multiplier?
That would give me 2664 Ghz..
I'll be using stock cooling.

Also, would i see any performance gains when playing games?

As long as your temps are in the safe zone (above absolute zero to about 65°c) them there wont be any damage to your cpu what-so-ever (barring you do something stupid like turn the vcore to like 5+ volts or something).

OK, at the moment, my temps sit at 52 Degrees Celcius (CoreTemp) on a load. So how much more heat do you estimate that it will generate if i OC?

hmmm, 2.6ghz, thats a pretty low oc, so the temps should stay around that area, im guessing high 50's max. theres no real way to tell though, every chip oc's differently.

Um...it depends on how much "above absolute zero". I mean, if your system is, let's say, 50 degrees celsius above absolute zero wouldn't that damage your system?

Tuniq Tower 120 is your friend

My E6400 is at 3.5ghz and idles at 34c with load temps of just 55c.
I really think I have to reseat my heatsink one day...I'm ideling at 48-50 and hit 60-62c under load. I'm at 3.2ghz with a multiplier of 9.

With such a small OC, you shouldn't worry too much.

Like mentioned, keep an eye out on your temps, and ensure that they stay below 60C (Intel recommends this temp for long operation).

With 60C, they imply 60C @ Tc (dead center of CPU heatspreader) - not 60C at Core temps. Core temps will be higher by 3-5C.

When you do wish to go further, aftermarket cooler is a must, and seeing that we are both from SA, I'd suggest going to Prophecy.co.za as they have some rare air coolers there (Scythe/Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro).

And this sounds stupid, but ensure that you have a well venitlated case. Testing for an hour vs 4 hours of gaming can yield suprising results.

Hey, thanks for the info guys! Its summer here in SA, so my room temperature is about 26Degrees.. This doesnt help me one bit as im using air cooling for my pc, so im pulling warm air into my case anyway..

So i think ill be too paranoid to OC (dont laugh guys) :D

Hey VokofPolisieKar, are you a Battlefield 2142 player?

Hell no - I spend too much money on hardware to afford ADSL in it's colourfull flavours from Telkom...

Yeah, I'm also suffering with the heat here in Mpumalanga - 7am and it's already 22C! Imagine what 12pm feels like...
