Can anyone recommend some good software that will :

Switch between video inputs, webcam(s) on USB), Tv card with video inputs
etc.
Motion detection (with definable areas)
FTP upload jpegs etc on motion detection
e-mail jpegs etc on motion detection
record video on detection
stay switched to the source that had motion to record until the motion stops

I've been using Active webcam v5 but it's too buggy and hogs PC resources if
switching between sources enabled.

Thanks

Below is a fairly recent listing of webcam softwares which you
can look at to see what comes close to what you want and what you
are willing to pay. Any motion detection based on changes in the
video pix will use a lot of your cpu. You may want to look at

No mention of Trackercam, I use this and it has LOTS of features, it's meant
to be used with trackerpods or powerpods but the software works if you have
neither of these and is free.

icatcher software is very good,

you can download a free version at http://www.icode.co.uk/icatcher/registration/registrati...

I'm not sure about the analytics, but I have done some work with them...

I would prefer to go into the new IP cameras with inbuilt memory and IP CCTV NVR, these babys are the new hot thing.. Quite expensive, but you get everything you'll ever neeed and more,

It's up to your wallet really

although this is quite an old thread, I think it's still useful... especially if somebody can help me to figure out which ones of above listed SW are completely free of charge, which ones have motion detections, and which ones support email notifications.

I'm trying to do such a list, these are the programs I'd found:

It's in italian, but if you help me with the project I'll translate it too english! :D
