 We have a Pc connected to internet thru cable modem. We have a laptop and it connects to the main computer thru a cable router. Both of them can connect to each other and share files. When I got my laptop I tried to set up to connect to home network. I get to the page where it says "Give this computer a description and name". I have tried naming the laptop I am trying to connect to the network but it doesn't work. I have tried to put in the name of the computer (main PC) that I am trying to connect to and the router is attached to, but it says theres already a computer with that name.

What am I doing wrong? I have tried accessing my computer from the Main PC but I cannot.

I am so frustrated. Can someone help me?

We connect thru a Wireless router. Main pc and 2 laptop connect. I do not.

Sorry for not making that clearer. It is not a cable router.. its wireless.

To set that right click on "My Computer" select properties.

You can enter the name and group under "Computer Name"
Names must be Unique, No duplicates.

Will require a restart after changes have been made.
