Every time I have done a hard reboot of my pocket pc when I have
reconnected, to my pc, I have to set up a new profile for the sync. If
I attempt to use a previous name it tells me that it is already in
use. I would like to get rid of all these profiles. How do I do this
so i can reuse my old ones?

I tried your advice, but still no joy. I'm now up to pda6 when all I
need is one.

Can you post the exact steps you use to delete and create the partnership?

That would help in determining what's going on. Please include
dialogues and your responses.

Bev,

This does not work. The System Registry includes references to the Profile
names that must be removed.

What is the correct process to reuse a profile name? You don't need to
examine what noone@nowhere.com might be doing. Just post the CORRECT steps.

TIA-

Unplug your device.

Open ActiveSync. Click File | Mobile Device. Change to one profile and then
click File | Delete Partnership. Repeat these steps.

Now, enter the correct name on your Pocket PC, and place it in the cradle.
You'll be asked to create a new partnership, which will have the name you
want.

this will NOT work unless you delete the reference to previous profiles on
both your hard drive and in your system registry...

This will work for what he needs, because "Delete Partnership" is the tool
to, well, delete partnership.

The spoiler is the question that AS asks about the sync folder... if the
user responds that they do not want it deleted, the partnership name
cannot be reused.

The "this does not work" you refer to is for a "recovery" from the act
of deleting a partnership (which deletes the registry entries) but
leaving the sync _folders_ in place.

Just where does Microsoft ever tell anyone anywhere in their printed or
online documentation that one must respond this way???

Better to do it my way. It works every time...

Mauricio,

Except, well, for the fact, well, that it doesn't, well, work. At all.
Well...
