google for POCKETPC SOFTWARE and be surprised

virtually all software written for pocketpc's since the were released in
2000 will work although you have have to download VB runtime for some.

A excellent example of what's possible can be found at
http://nomadelectronics.com/

>> Mappoint <<

Think yes... you will have to install pocketsteets to view maps.

I got a pocket PCs to meet a need, so I already knew what I could do
with it, before I bought it.

It depends on what you need it to do, but my can't live without apps
(besides what comes on it) are:

SPB Pocket Plus
PocketPutty
AIM
WebIS Mail (still on trial period, but will prob buy)
XCPUScalar (slow down your processor for bettery battery life)

For when I'm not "working":

MS Entertainment Pack (had to have Minesweeper and Blackjack)
BetaPlayer and divx movies to watch on the plane

Your wants are probably going to differ greatly from my needs.

You can go to www.pocketgear.com or www.handango.com and you will be
surprised with the quantity of software there.

Also, you can find a lot of good freeware at www.freewareppc.com and at
www.pocketpcfreewares.com

You can use PocketDivXEncoder on your PC to create pocket movies. Use
Betaplayer to play them.

You can use Wisbar Advanced and make your desktop look like this:

(tdLaunch for the taskbar at the top.)

Total Commander or Pocket Explorer as an alternative for File
Explorer.
