Before I start the negatives, I'll state a few positives. I love the registration for the site. You click Sign In, then Not a member or whatever, then bam register. Takes like 5 seconds total, 10 including the account activation part. Also the forums don't look bad either.

Anyway, my main complaint is the articles. For a while now (2 years or so) I have kept my mouth shut. The fact that the article real estate only takes up about 1/8th of the page is really sad. Back in the day when I first started reading this site (8 or so years ago, maybe more) the article space was HUGE. Now the article pages are littered with garbage. If I want links to the latest news, I'll click on a latest news button.

The bottom line is, very long time ago you used to be able to click on an article, hit ctrl+p followed by the enter key and run to your printer, grab the printed article and read it while you take a crap. Now….its not even possible. If I DID want to enjoy a good read from Toms Hardware while take’n a load off, I would have to click on every page of the article, print it, then go to the printer and sift out the pages that actually contained reading material on it and throw away all of the ads then go to the pot and read a 15 page article that could have easily been printed on 3-5 pages.

I apologize for how horribly written this post is, but the fact is I doubt anyone will care enough to make any changes so I’m just throwing this out there. Toms Hardware is no longer about the readers, it’s about the ads.

Hah. Not that I'm aware of. I just signed up today out of frustration. But I take it you agree. Its frustrating to watch a site go down hill over the years. But in the past 2 years it seems to have dropped off a cliff rather than just going down a hill.

In my mad refresh of the forums with a desire to read any crazed flames that may be coming in my direction. I couldnt help but notice the giant, MASSIVE white gap of nothingness caused by a 4"x4" google adsense......

Tom Tom Tom......WHY!?!!! I can only assume Tom sold his site. :P

Although everyone here seems to want to "get physikal", I think I will refrain from it for now.

P, yes the site has gone downhill. SOme things are definitely more commercial than others. They have added extra sections and reviews, but even the things that I used to glance over each morning at work bear little or no appeal now.

There are still a few super-techie bits, but most are just mass-reader chum intended to get as many potential site hits as possible from teh general technical public.


One thing though. These guys must really liek you or something. You have gotten a MUCH warmer reception than others on this board for their first time into "other".

Take it to heart and make sure to pack plenty of crisco the next time you come back.

Honestly, I blame it on BoM. It sizes normally in the other sections....it just in the other that it bloats

Originally, it was spelled "Qualtities", but being as this is a family site, I decided something a little less obvious and more apt to be taken as a typo would be appropriate.
