HD Error list (included) not sure what to do next?

Hi all, I've been experiencing problems with my Samsung SP8004H HD lately resulting in files disappearing & when trying to view a folder I get the message "Drive D needs to be re-formatted etc etc blah". I do a CHKDSK it finds errors (correcting error in index $130 stuff along with Recovering Orphaned files etc), after that the vanished files reappear & the Formatting message goes.....then a week later the problems start over.

I've never experienced a HD failure like this before and am not sure what to do next, new HD? reformat? use a special tool to magically fix it? I dunno...

heres hte log from the boot-up thingy that shows the errors, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like that disk is failing to me.

Back up all data now to a different drive. Download and run Samsung's HD Diagnostic software, run it under pure DOS, see if it finds errors on your drive. If that software doesn't work properly, you can probably run other manufacturer's diagnostics utilities or a generic HDD diag program like OnTrack's Data Advisor Free Edition.

If the drive is bad, check if it's in warranty by calling Samsung. If so, RMA it and get a new drive. If not, trash it, new Seagate 300GB is about $99 retail.

Hi there, I am getting similar problem and a message at re-boot says that hard disc error is detected.
When I run chkdsk, I get the following error...Any suggestions on what might be wrong and any resolutions?

Don't trash your hard disc. I doubt that there is a problem as such. Are you using Vista? If so go to control panel and choose indexing options (if you aren't in classic view first go to systems and maintenance then choose indexing options) choose advanced options then choose restore default. It will want to restart and warn you it may take some time on startup as it rebuilds your index. Ok it as it's not a problem it only does it the once. This should resolve those crashes as well. I cannot remember if XP has a similar index fix.
