"power meter" hangs on logoff

Win2K Server, SP4, all critical updates installed. Accessing via terminal
services (haven't been able to check yet if this happens when logging on at
console). On logoff, a "End Program" window for "Power Meter" comes up.
After about 10 seconds, it says "The program is not responding" and gives the
"end now" or "cancel" options. The users can "end now" and finish the
logoff, but it slows them down, but since I've only ever seen "Power Meter"
on desktops and laptops (there isn't even a "Power Options" applet on the
control panel), this worries me.

Any ideas why this is happening and what I can do to get rid of it?

You have this server on a UPS?

Yes, but it's not managing the UPS- another server is.

Did the "software" for the UPS happen to get installed on this server?
It sounds like something got installed and isn't working properly.

I double-checked that, and no, it isn't installed.

I scheduled a reboot overnight, and the problem is gone now, but I'm sure it
will return sometime, so if anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

I don't have an answer, but startiing 2 days ago 3 sets of Windows2000
cluster servers (6 servers total) spontaneously started exibiting this
condition. Other symptoms on all three are:
Freezing when right-clicking on certain files.
Very long wait time to get a desktop when terminal serving into the
server.
2 of the clusters are print servers and right-clicking on a printer
object will throw the spooler object offline.
None of the 6 servers have had anything, including updates, installed
in the last week. Symantic virus defs are up to date.
