Hy !
I am sick of my current LITE-ON DVD-ROM drive :x it doesn't play most of the DVDs, installations get paused right at the end and I have to abort them. I am planning to buy a new one but am not sure which one to buy. So can please anyone tell me which is the best in a sense that it should be able to read any CD/DVD-ROM, scratched, new, used and it is able to read anything placed in its tray.

If the cd or dvd is scratched really bad you are out of luck. It probably wont read it. :(

I have heard that ASUS manufacture good DVD Drives., is that true?
Never had Asus, cant comment. I had Nec, Plextor, LG, Liteon, Pioneer, and Sony.

No matter which drive you pick it will work unless it is doa. 30 to 40 buck for a dvd burner is a steal now a days.
