Router 1: DHCP enabled. IP set to 192.168.1.1 - set in Gateway mode (internet connection in). IP Range 192.168.1.100-149
Router 2: DHCP disabled. IP set to 192.168.1.2 - set to Router mode with Dynamic Routing on (RIP)
Connecting a computer to router 1 is fine
Connecting a computer to router 2 ... it can't find an IP address
Any clues? Could it be the firewall which is enabled still on router 2?
Also ... I can't connect to 192.168.1.2 any more (to make modifications I can take it out and plug it direct into a pc)
I had this same problem at my house. I had 2 routers a cisco and a linksys. I wanted the linksys to act solely as a switch so I didn't have to go out and buy a new wireless AP. THe problem I had was only with the wireless. When I plugged my PC directly into the router it pulled an address and everything was fine. The wireless was not passing the DHCP info and I couldn't figure out why. I just bought an AP and that fixed everything.
I had to set the gateway as the IP of my Internet router(cisco).
I can dig up the e-mail I had from linksys and either post it on here or PM with the instructions. I'll PM it to you once I have it.
Since you set your 2nd router as static IP, you will need to set static IP info as mentioned early in all pc connected to router 2. If your router as a mode known as Classic routing, it will pass the info up to router 1 and let it set the Connection Info.
