I happened to have an 3Dlabs Wildcat graphic card which is geared for workstation uses. I use this card in "normal" computer" as I do not do CAD/CAM or rendering. While it seems the text is quite good ( but not sure if it is better than normal gaming card), it has instability problem.Sometimes after turning on, the computer could not get to normal windows state (start button and the like), just an lighten blank screen. The driver seems to "eat" BIOS also as now, before BIOS running I have a sentence about Software Compatibility from Phoenix Technologies, which I assume is BIOS company.
Anyone has experience using workstation graphic card. Does it pfere any hardware condition or simply the cheap card that I ahve is defective.
3DLabs are out of business, so don't expect any support. You also don't mention your computer configuration. If you have a cheap computer with a pro video card, you can be sure that the testing for such a combination was absent and hence your problems. If you don't do professional CAD, this video card is pretty much useless to you. You would be better off by selling it on EBay because you may get some money for it and with those money and something extra, buy a nice recent consumer/gamer video card. Wildcats are quite cheap on EBay compared with NVidia and ATI professional cards because 3DLabs is no more, but the cards have very good performance for CAD.
